About / 展覧会について
After many years of living together, my wife and I have grown alike — in our expressions, and even in how we respond to the world. It can look like a happy thing; it can also look like our differences slowly disappearing. Is this closeness a shelter, or a surrender? That question is where this work began. It has not been answered.
What has continued is our looking at each other.
This exhibition presents works from the series Ritual, together with photographs made between 2023 and 2026 that have not appeared in previous exhibitions or in the photobook.
長く一緒に暮らすうちに、妻と私は表情や世界への反応まで似てきました。それは幸せなことにも見えるし、互いの違いが消えていくことにも見えます。幸福なのか、降伏なのか。そう考えたのがこの作品の始まりでしたが、答えは出ていません。
続いているのは、お互いを見ることのほうです。
本展では、シリーズ「Ritual」に、2023年から2026年に撮影し、これまでの展示や写真集では発表していない写真を加えて展示しています。

Shinobu Senoo
Born 1980 in Okayama, Japan. Lives and works in Odaiba, Tokyo. Senoo received a BA in Fine Art (Photography) from Kyoto University of the Arts in 2025. Since 2021 he has been making Ritual, a series about his long shared life with his wife, who takes part in the project as a co-investigator. In 2026, two works from Ritual entered the permanent collection of The University of Texas at Tyler, and a photograph from the series was named a prizewinner in The Photo Review 41st Annual International Photography Competition. That photograph is on view at the same time as this exhibition, in The Photo Review: Best in Show 2026 at Woodmere Art Museum, Philadelphia (October 10, 2026 – January 3, 2027).
